Re: Recently Read
I love bad paranormal romances! Have you read "Shadow of Night" by Deborah Harkness? It's awful, I loved it.
EDIT: By Shadow of Night, I actually meant A Discovery of Witches. Shadow is the second in the trilogy, Discovery is the first.
I've barely just started reading "The Reader" by Bernhard Schlink and I recently finished "Trespass" by Rose Tremain. It was pretty good, but it went in a very odd direction.

Re: Recently Read
The Reader was really good, but a little odd. Not quite what I was expecting. I have also read Paper Towns by John Green and most recently The Psychopath Test by Jon Ronson. Both were excellent.
Re: Recently Read
Since reading The Psychopath Test, I've also read an Abundance of Katherines and I've started Looking For Alaska, both by John Green. I've also read a lot of literature about consciousness.
Re: Recently Read
Ro, have you seen the movie The Reader? I saw it in theatres and thought it was great. And I think you see some Kate Winslet boobies which is always nice.
I'm in the middle of Mark Z. Danielewski's Only Revolutions. It's a challenging read in that it's rendered entirely in poetic prose and doesn't really use quotation marks or follow any type of plot conventions, and structurally it's the most insane thing I've ever seen. It's something you need to devote full attention to and you can't read it if you're at all sleepy, definitely requires alertness. But it's great.

Re: Recently Read
"Anatomy of Ghosts" by Andrew Taylor. It's about a man who is asked to convince another man that ghosts aren't real. It's wonderful.

Red Seas Under Red Skies by Scott Lynch. It was so good. On par with GRRM for description.

Re: Recently Read
I am currently reading Gone Girl by Gillian Flynn and it's really intriguing so far. I have absolutely no idea where it's going but she keeps throwing things out and it's getting more and more weird but in a good way.
Re: Recently Read
I'm reading Just Kids by Patti Smith and am so in love with her mind.
I'm also reading Pleasures of the Damned by Bukowski and some of them resonate, others make me cringe. (poetry)
I'm also reading Buddhist Yoga, which is just the ornamental flower sutra, teaching on the fundamental nature of reality. It's kind of mind blowing from the start, nothing to do with asana practice of Hindu yoga.
I also have a few other books that I started awhile ago but aren't as big of a priority. Like the third Sandman book by Gaiman. I loved the first two and appreciate what I've read so far, but I own this book and so I don't have to worry about returning it to the library.
Eeee. mmmrrr. books books books
